With a background in training, rescue work, and communications, Kathy Callahan loves helping people live more happily with their dogs.
While she enjoys training dogs, what she adores is coaching dog-human teams. Her goal is to help owners to understand their dogs so well they don’t need her anymore!

Kathy has particular expertise in puppies. Her business, PupStart, focuses on puppyhood coaching, and has fostered more than 200 puppies.
Kathy’s new book, Welcoming Your Puppy from Planet Dog, features fun-to-read chapters filled with empathy for both the beleaguered humans and their confused puppies. Kathy hopes the book helps bring the two-way joy back into puppyhood by encouraging folks to adopt a mindset of “trusted guide” instead of “master.”

Kathy’s been writing on training and behavior monthly for Whole Dog Journal since 2020, so a quick search there will give you a sense of her approach. She also has a casual little podcast called Pick of the Litter aimed at bringing the best, trusted names and techniques to everyday owners who just want some help with the basics.
