Natural and Social Environments as Pathways to the Good Life: How Forrest School’s Integrated Approach Transforms Dogs
How can natural and social environments become pathways to the Good Life for dogs? This course explores the Forrest School model and its integrated approach to behavioral rehabilitation. Rather than focusing only on training tasks or behavior suppression, this presentation looks at how dogs can benefit when their daily lives provide meaningful access to nature, social connection, agency, and biologically relevant experiences.
Participants will learn how the Forrest School model uses carefully designed environments and education for owners to help meet dogs’ needs in more complete and sustainable ways. The course explores how natural settings, appropriate social opportunities, movement, exploration, and human guidance can work together to support welfare and behavior change. It offers professionals a powerful example of what can happen when we stop asking dogs to simply fit into our world and start building conditions that better fit them.
