Creating a Safe Environment for the Sometimes Emotional Content of Client Consulting

How do we create a consulting environment that can hold the emotional reality of behavior work? This course explores the human side of animal behavior consulting, where professionals are often asked to support people through guilt, grief, fear, frustration, defensiveness, and difficult change. Viviane Arzoumanian examines the tools and conditions that help clients stay present and engaged, even when the content is hard.

Participants will learn how patience, curiosity, structure, and emotional safety can make human behavior change more possible. This presentation looks at the consulting relationship as part of the welfare system, because animals benefit when their people feel supported enough to understand and follow through. The goal is to help professionals create a space where clients can hear difficult information, make meaningful changes, and remain connected to the process.
