To See or Not to See: The Self’s Environment
What do dogs actually see, and how does vision shape their behavior? This course explores the Self’s environment through the sensory experience of sight. When a dog crosses the road, avoids an object, reacts to movement, or seems to notice something we missed, the story may be rooted in how that individual perceives the world visually.
This presentation examines canine vision, movement sensitivity, visual limitations, and the ways sight interacts with learning, environment, genetics, and the individual self. Participants will learn how visual perception can influence behavior, stress, confidence, and misinterpretation by humans. The goal is to help professionals and families stop assuming dogs see what we see, and instead consider how the dog’s sensory world may be shaping the choices and reactions in front of us.
