John Imler (Working Division Head)
After finding success in careers spanning the military, law enforcement and corporate America, in 2014 John Imler realized a dream and turned a lifelong passion of working with animals into a career. He uses on a comprehensive approach to helping dogs reach their full potential through measurable standards via applicable life skills. He also focuses on the humans where he guides them to become informed stewards for the dogs they share their lives with. He has a passion for working breeds and believes there is no better thing to see than a canine safely express their genetics alongside a supportive human. He helps industry professionals as a coach through the The Pro Dog Trainer Mindset, a platform where he draws from decades of experience and uses as a science backed program to help trainers successfully work, play and grow in this industry. He is a Licensed Family Dog Mediator in both the Training and Working Division and currently leads the Working Division. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville and holds a number of industry certifications. He continues to pursue studies in Ethology and Behaviorism under leading experts with the goal of applying this knowledge practically in the field. He is an Ambassador and Professional Member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP) and was named Member of the Year in 2020. He has previously served on the Board of Directors in roles as Director Oversight of the Legislation, European Members and Education Committees. He lives outside of Louisville, Kentucky with his family, 3 personal dogs (a Bully/Shepherd mix, a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a Belgian Malinois), a flock of chickens and a rabbit.
