My name is Katie Vecchi and I am the Director of Behavior and Placement with Animal Friends, a shelter outside of Pittsburgh PA. In addition to being part of the L.E.G.S. community, I am also a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner and a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer. In our shelter we have dogs that come through our doors from a variety of backgrounds. Many of our residents were confiscated by our Humane Investigations Team and have experienced physical and mental/emotional trauma. Incorporating the L.E.G.S. ideals/philosophies has been incredibly helpful when looking at each of these dogs as individuals, who need specialized care to set them up for success. Understanding the whole dog allows us to customize their rehabilitation plan and help them find the best possible forever homes.
