Margie began her professional career in human services and earned a degree in interdisciplinary studies with a focus in psychology. After spending over a decade working to understand the complexity of human behavior in a variety of settings, Margie's career trajectory shifted significantly when she decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She has since earned her CVT and taken every opportunity to learn from experts in the field of animal behavior. Her time as a veterinary ICU nurse and as a behavior technician under a board-certified veterinary behaviorist has allowed her to combine her love of medicine and her passion for animal welfare and behavior.

She currently works in the training department at Mount Laurel Animal Hospital where she handles the animal behavior and handling training for 350+ employees. In addition, she writes and maintains hospital SOPs that relate to patient handling, oversees the hospital’s Fear Free Certification, develops new behavior-centered initiatives, and has the privilege of traveling to other hospitals to share how we can help make veterinary care a little less scary for our furry companions. She believes that educating and empowering veterinary staff to consider the whole health of a patient is an essential step in creating a better life for companion animals and the humans that love them.

In addition to her work at the hospital, she helps caregivers work with their pets to counter condition fears and anxieties as they relate to handling and teaches owners to equip their animals with cooperative care skills. When she’s not working, she’s probably gallivanting through the woods with any number of her 4 resident dogs or working to expand the safe outdoor space for her 6 suburban cats.
