Desiree grew up on a farm in rural Texas, where she learned from the working cattle dogs. By the age of 12, she was reading every book she could get her hands on about animal psychology, behavior, and cognition. As she grew up, her fascination with behavior - both human and animal - increased, leading her to pursue her master’s degree in intercultural psychology and communications. She is an internationally certified Canine Behaviorist.

Through her business, Horizon Dog Behavior & Training, based in Greenville, South Carolina, Desiree has spent the last nearly 20 years specializing in healing serious behavior problems in dogs, including aggression, fear, anxiety, and trauma. She has worked with dogs as a K9 Handler & Trainer for Search and Rescue, as an Animal Assisted Therapy technician, with rescue dogs, and competing in multiple different dog sports.  On the human side of the equation, she has worked as an intercultural consultant, designing training projects for enterprise-level companies like Bosch, Michelin, and Kawasaki, as well as writing curriculum for Clemson University. She’s worked with clients from 60+ companies and speaks several languages.
